Set up your encryption password
How to create and manage the password that encrypts your memories.
Your encryption password is set the first time you create a Unimatrix account or the first time you save a memory, depending on your onboarding flow. It is used to derive the key that encrypts every memory client-side before it leaves your device.
Unimatrix never transmits or stores this password — not even in encrypted form — so it cannot be recovered by our support team if lost. Store it in a password manager immediately after setting it.
To set or change it, go to Settings → Security → Encryption Password in the web dashboard. Changing your password re-encrypts new memories going forward; it does not retroactively re-encrypt memories saved under the old password, so avoid changing it unless necessary.
If you forget your encryption password, see "Password recovery" for what your options are.
